WINBC is thrilled to announce the speakers for its opening Face_Time event in 2006. Featured speakers are Derek Kerton, Industry Analyst at The Kerton Group, and a panel from the Service Provider Investment Forum (SPIF) based in Silicon Valley. SPIF represents the venture and R&D arms of wireless & wireline carriers from around the world. They will meet for the first time out of the Valley, here in Vancouver.

Panel Topic - Telecom Trends: Perspectives of Industry Insiders
Our distinguished SPIF panel will discuss the trends in the telecom markets that they are following - from a venture, operator, and vendor perspective. Anything is open for discussion - from WiMax and broadband over powerlines to fuel cells, mobile search, and IPTV.

Derek Kerton

Derek Kerton is an internationally recognized wireless telecommunications industry expert. His insight into wireless technology, products, and applications is valued by clients across the entire wireless value chain - from global carriers and infrastructure companies to device and content players. Previously, Mr. Kerton started Disney's wireless business - from development to distribution for ABCNews, ESPN.com among others. As an authority in wireless telecom, Mr. Kerton's analysis is widely distributed in industry reports, articles, and frequent quotes in media including Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CNBC and CNN. Additionally, he is a contributing author to the book "Going Mobile" and the wireless editor for TechDirt.

Rob Trice, General Partner, Nokia Growth Partners
Rob brings a variety of domestic and international operational and business planning experience to Nokia Growth Partners. He joined BlueRun Ventures (formerly Nokia Venture Partners) in late 2000. Previously, he worked at DIRECTV in Los Angeles and Tokyo. Rob also worked as a policy analyst at a Washington, D.C. based think tank, the Center for Strategic & International Studies. He holds a Master of Arts from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. Rob is based in Menlo Park, California.

Marc Faucher, Senior Associate, BCE Capital
Marc brings to BCE Capital a background in Telecommunications and Strategic Marketing, having worked with both technology infrastructure and strategic service organizations. Marc joins the BCE Capital team from Bell Mobility where he was involved in making strategic equity investments. Prior to Bell Mobility, Marc was a Senior Consultant with the McKenna Group, a strategic consulting firm focused on companies operating within emerging technology markets. During his tenure at McKenna, Marc advised early stage ventures on go-to-market strategies. Prior to McKenna, Marc was a Product Manager for wireless networks with Ericsson. Marc received a BASc in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Aymerik Renard, Managing Director, Innovacom Venture Partners (France Telecom)
Aymerik joined Innovacom in 1996, opening the company's North American office in San Francisco. Aymerik has worked with Internet technologies since 1989, and focuses on enterprise and telecomsoftware investments. Prior to joining Innovacom, Aymerik headed France Telecom North America's Internet and online service-related business development activities, where he performed technology, market and strategic analyses and participated in partnership and joint venture negotiations, working closely with various France Telecom operating units. Aymerik is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in information and decision systems, as well as policy and management.

SPIF is the monthly meeting of representatives from the wireless and wireline carriers' venture capital and R&D divisions. SPIF investors are hot on anything wireless, telecom, and Internet - from components, devices and enabling technologies to enterprise solutions and content. And in January, the group will be travelling out of the Valley for the first time. The January meeting for SPIF is in Vancouver. And Face_Time 6.1 is where the community can meet SPIF members and The Kerton Group.
