Lucent Technologies, Nokia and TELUS Return to Sponsor Fourth Annual Wireless Innovation Contest
Los Angeles, CA, September 12, 2006 – The Wireless Innovation Network of B.C. announces today that it is gearing up for its fourth annual Wireless Innovation Contest (WIC’07) with returning sponsorship support from Lucent Technologies, Nokia and TELUS. Judging will take place and winners will be announced ”live” at CTIA Wireless 2007, March 27-29, 2007.
“The Wireless Innovation Contest continues to go from strength to strength and we are very pleased to have last year’s lead sponsors on board this year again,” says Shana Korotash, executive director of WINBC, the producer of WIC’07. “Last year we tripled the number of entries over the previous year and we expect to continue that kind of growth this year. Our overall aim is to continue to raise awareness of the adoption of wireless technologies across all industries and the consumer market in North America. Entrants are asked to provide a case study that clearly demonstrates the impact of their technology and to include the customer and partners that are part of the successful implementation.”
The contest is launching on November 20, 2006 and will be open to American and Canadian wireless developers and solution providers that have deployed, and are creating, a wireless solution in one of six categories: taking care of business enterprise in the public and private sectors, taking care of yourself in home & entertainment convergence and sports & recreation sub-categories, taking care of the community and student.
A panel of industry leaders will judge each entry and decide on a winner and two finalists in each category. Winners of WIC’07 are rewarded with targeted exposure in media and at trade shows, including the award ceremony held at CTIA Wireless as well as inclusion in a special case study publication.
