TELECOMS SECTOR MARKET VISIT TO turkey

TURKEY, 25 FEBRUARY – 2 MARCH 2007

Tradefair will be co-ordinating on behalf of UK Trade & Investment a telecommunications trade mission to Istanbul, Turkey in February/March 2007 with an optional extension to Ankara.

Who should attend?

If you have a telecoms product or service that may be suitable for the Turkish market such as:

• communications equipment, i.e. cellular handsets, VoIP telephony and call routers
• new technologies/applications for GSM operators, e.g. MMS, WiMAX and java based services, management tools and mobile applications for corporate clients
• telecom services to enhance activities of long distance operators
• content for mobile and PSTN telephone operators for entertainment, information acquisition, messaging and a range of other functions ranging from banking and finance to shopping (e-commerce)

Applications
Completed applications need to be returned to melanie.pomery@tradefair.co.uk by 8 January 2007. Places are restricted to a maximum of 10 companies who meet the eligibility criteria stated on the application forms.

Please note that only new exporters may be eligible for travel grants, which need to be applied for through their local International Trade Teams / Devolved Administration. UKTI no longer provide travel grants to companies taking part in market visits so mission participants will need to meet their own costs. Further information can be found on the application form.

Draft Programme
The programme will include pre-arranged one-to-one meetings in Istanbul, country and sector briefings, a networking reception and assistance to organise an individual programme in Ankara if required.

• Sunday 25 February Arrival to Istanbul
• Monday 26 February Country briefing followed by sector briefing(s) and pre-arranged one-to-one meetings
• Networking reception (evening)
• Tuesday 27 February Pre-arranged one-to-one meetings
• Wednesday 28 February Free day to pursue individual programmes
• Thursday 1 March Free day to pursue individual programmes
• Friday 2 March Return to the UK

Administration fee
The administration charge for this market visit is £200 inclusive of VAT and covers the following:

• One-to-one meetings Istanbul
• Networking reception with key contacts
• Mission brochure in English and Turkish
• Local publicity
• Assistance in arranging visit to Ankara

Travel and accommodation
Successful applicants will need to book and pay for their own flights. Accommodation will be at The Marmara Pera hotel booked by the British Consulate General and payable by mission members on departure. The current rate (subject to change) is EURO 88.50 per single room per night on B&B basis, incl. service and tax.

Mission brochure
Successful applicants will need to complete a template for the mission brochure. The brochure is an important part of helping make a visit successful and it is vital information is returned to us by the deadlines stated in the template.

It should be noted that UK Trade & Investment cannot guarantee one to one meetings. It will however, utilize its extensive network to attempt to set up such meetings but ultimately it will be a decision for the overseas client taking into consideration the relevance of the UK technology.
