MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As the CTIA Wireless spring show winds up for another year, WINBC takes a closer look at the winners of our Wireless Innovation Contest (WIC'07). Our 4th Annual Wireless Contest concluded this past Monday, March 26th, with a reception and awards presentation hosted in Orlando the day prior to the start of CTIA. For the first time in the history of the Contest, winners were announced live.
This year's winners continue to push the innovation envelope delivering practical solutions to organizational and everyday issues, changing and improving the ways we conduct business and day to day tasks and activities.
I would like to congratulate the winners and finalists of WIC’07 and extend thanks to our key sponsors; TELUS, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia, as well as our judges and mentors for volunteering their valuable time, experience and wisdom as we all work together to continue to grow the wireless industry.
Information on our WIC'07 winners and runners up can be found at www.winbc.org/wic as well as our case study booklet available for download from our Contest sitelet.

With the number of global mobile subscribers exceeding 2 billion today and expected to surpass 3.5 billion by the end of the decade, the wireless market is ripe with opportunities for new services delivered or enabled through mobile devices (What's Hot in Mobility, IDC # TB20060907). Furthermore, as organizations look for new ways to improve customer experiences, reduce development and operational costs, and ultimately increase revenues, they are turning to the wireless market for innovative solutions. While there are a number of giants in the wireless industry that are addressing these opportunities, smaller companies are also making an impressive impact within their communities of interest.

Information Overload 2.0
Lisa Davis of CCNMatthews, the news distribution company, gives us an insight to citizen journalism.
Riding the subway to work I watch my fellow passengers typing, listening, texting, viewing, gaming, tapping, scrolling and shuffling on one device or another. I wonder if these devices have left us literally grappling with all of the bells and whistles available in today's gadgetry and whether we've become victims of what some have termed a technology-induced "time famine".
