Brand2hand Media
What opportunity did you see when creating Brand2hand Media? Was there a gap in the market that you fill and what is that?
There is no shortage of fitness expertise available in books, magazines, and online via computers, but these are of no value to the 80 million North American exercisers when they are in the target environment (health clubs) because no one brings them to health clubs. We saw an opportunity to solve this problem by delivering high-quality, made-for-mobile fitness videos to devices people already bring to their health clubs: mobile phones and iPods.
Made-for-mobile content and technology would enable consumers to use their devices AS personal trainers. The direct-to-consumer potential is obvious, but we also recognized opportunities to solve B2B problems:
- Corporate wellness programs: Fitness is a cornerstone of any employee wellness program, but live trainers are not economically feasible for most companies. Employee-owned devices like iPods and mobile phones could enable employers to deliver the benefits of personal training to their employees at a fraction of the cost.
- Private labelling: Wellness brands (gym chains, fitness publishers, weight loss enterprises) recognize the importance of having a ‘presence’ in the iPod and mobile phone market spaces, but they need outside expertise to create such a presence.
What impact does your technology have on the industry/customer markets?
The majority of exercisers in the US/Canada want to use a personal trainer, but less than 10% actually do. At $50 to $100+ per hour, cost is the biggest barrier to the 90% of exercisers who need a trainer but cannot afford one. Typical exercisers need to work out 2-3 times per week to realize any benefit and working with a live personal trainer 2-3 times per week can cost $400 to $1000+ per month. Brand2Hand Media solves this problem by making the benefits of personal training affordable to everyone and letting consumers use their iPods and mobile phones AS personal fitness trainers at a cost of about $10-$20 per month. The following impacts can be recognized with our solutions:
Consumer Impact:
- Offers an affordable alternative to live personal trainers
- Makes fitness instructional expertise available when and where it is relevant: in health clubs while exercising
- In addition to health clubs, anytime / anywhere solution can be used outdoors, when travelling, etc.
Business Impact:
- Enables employers to reduce skyrocketing healthcare costs related to sedentary lifestyles and a growing obesity epidemic
- Enables gym chains to capture missed revenue opportunities among members who cannot or will not pay for personal training
- Enables established wellness brands to increase brand relevance and extend brand reach into consumers' hands
Financial Impact:
- Makes the benefits of personal training affordable to consumers
- Produces measurable ROI for employers seeking to reduce healthcare costs
- Creates new revenue streams for private label partners
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Recognizing opportunities others have missed. And winning.
What's in store for your company? How will the future look?
In store...Wellness content made free to the end-user though ad-sponsorship. There will always be a place for our premium content, but with healthcare crises looming around the globe, we want to make wellness content available to those who can't pay for it. We also believe we can build a successful hybrid model of free and premium content.
The future...WiFi & WiMax
